OGS vision is to build upon our foundation of education, link to farm incubators and farmland preservation intitiatives, and gain influence on a regional level to make sustainable food systems a priority in the Southern Appalachian region. My courses at OGS included Ayurvedic Cooking Foundations, Natural Beekeeping, Growing for Winter Harvest, Raising Backyard Chickens: Egg and Meat Production for your Family, Goat Cheese Making, and Starting Communities Gardens.

NC Organic Wheat: From Field to Bread 2009
Workshop touring bread wheat trials at the Mountain Research Station in Waynesville and discussion of varieties of hard wheat (bread wheat) that perform well in NC and their quality components. Discussion of the NC Organic Bread Flour Project and aspects of organic wheat production from cultural practices to storage to processing.
Study of traditional woodworking and techniques with world renowned female woodworker Debey Zito.

Eco-conscious Carpenter, Interior Design Consultant, Color Consultant, Spatial Design Consultant
Completed 12+ short-term renovation projects throughout San Francisco Bay Area. Worked closely with clients to redesign and reconstruct homes to achieve historic integrity of original structures. Evaluated clients kinesthetic awareness and spatial sense to facilitate congruency in design and function. Projects included design, frame carpentry, fine woodworking reproductions& installation, antique floor installation and finishing, plumbing, tile installation and finishing as well as color consulting, faux finish painting, and custom cabinetry, integrating aspects of historic preservation with green building concepts.

Freelance Visual & Conceptual Installation/Set Design Consultant and Builder
Worked with Graduate and Undergraduate students in the Department of Dance at The Ohio State University.
Creative consultant/designer for development of sets and lighting design. Collaborated 3 MFA Candidate Choreographers and 4 undergraduate choreographers to design and construct full sets for performances. Integrative approach to creative process fusing Visual and Movement Choreography. Projects generously funded by OSU AGGRS Grants, and fellowships.

Baker Tarpaga Transnational Dance Company
Creative consultant/designer for development of sets. Collaborated with American Choreographer Esther Baker- Tarpaga and West African Choreographer Olivier Tarpaga to design and construct full sets for pieces. Integrative approach to creative process fusing Visual and Movement Choreography. Works presented in Ohio, New York, Los Angeles , Cameroon, Senegal and Burkina Faso.

Assisted with varied arts-related education programs. Events include weekend arts workshops, films, and performances for young people and families. Worked with hands-on projects, and participated in set-up and break down of events.

Opportunity Impact (Volunteer Artist)
Circle of Joy Art Wreath Benefit. Volunteered to work with 30 youth at Opportunity Impact to create Holiday Art Wreaths from salvaged and reclaimed materials. These wreaths were auctioned off at a Holiday Block Party in the Hayes Valley neighborhood of San Francisco. All proceeds benefitted Opportunity Impact. Opportunity Impact provides youth living in public housing with the skills they need to create new opportunities and better their future.

New College Green Living Center: Window Display Design and Construction Project, Color Consultant
Creative consultant and designer for development of ground floor window presence for the New College Green Living Center. Designed, constructed and installed 2 full window display kits, 95% of the materials used in this project have been reclaimed Bay Area dumpsters, street corners and hauling companies. Researched and obtained environmentally friendly finishes for entire project. The initial portion of this project aimed to facilitate community engagement, grants and funding.

Lick Wilmerding Jellis Block Coordinator
New College Green Living Center
Volunteered to design and coordinate a 2 week long curriculum for Seniors at Lick Wilmerding High School in San Francisco in conjunction with the New College Green Living Center Project. Theme: What does it mean to be working artist in the San Francisco Bay Area? This was a hands-on experience at the New College Green Living Center, including questions of sustainability and ecological impact. Coordinated 2 gallery displays of students work at Lick Wilmerding and New College. The purpose of Jellis Block is to provide a practical, real world experiential learning
course for students combining principles of stewardship, service learning, community engagement and critical thinking skills.

Creative Consultant to Department Chair for BodyMind Education (BME), Lick-Wilmerding High School, Assisted in the conceptualization, design and implementation of an alternative curriculum utilizing kinesthetic intelligence to replace a traditional Physical Education curriculum. Facilitated discussions with Department Chair on the overlap of traditional “classroom based” pedagogy and practice with embodied education courses in yoga, rock climbing, breaking, martial arts, exercise physiology, health education with creativity as a basis for embodiment.

Sub-contractor/ Interior Design Consultant

Furniture Design and Refinishing
Design and construction of custom farm tables, end tables, built in cabinetry, kitchen islands and shelving units as well as the refinishing of antique furniture. Researched and design of pieces as relevant to materials, finishes and spaces in their appropriate physical and historical context.

Set Design and Construction Project for San Francisco Dance Company
Creative consultant/designer for development of sets to Company Mechanique dance theater. Collaborated with Finnish Choreographer Raisa Punkki , French Costume Designer Claire Pasquier, and San Francisco Composer Albert Mathias to design and construct full sets for piece “All Blue”. Inspiration for the movement, sound and structure for this piece was derived from an e.e.cummings poem. 85% of the materials used in the set development were reclaimed from Bay Area streets, renovation jobsite dumpsters and salvage houses. Integrative approach to creative process.

Richmond Virginia Film Set Design and Construction Project
Creative consultant for development of sets to the film “Boys Knife”. “Boys Knife”, an original film written and directed by Reid Dodson was funded by a grant from the Virginia Museum. Designed and constructed full sets for film. 85% of the materials were reclaimed for this construction project and all structural lumber was milled from fallen timbers on location.

Assisted in the construction, installation and maintenance of residential and commercial gardens and properties in Richmond Virginia and surrounding locations. This included, but was not limited to, planting and pruning, fountain construction and installation, stonework (walls and pathways), and fine carpentry (decks, fencing and trellises).
